A compilation of Singapore animated short films displaying a variety of stories and styles by local students.
A number of these films were finalists at this year’s National Youth Film Awards held at *SCAPE. Most of this selection will also be screening in public for the first time.

SG ANIMATION INDUSTRY PANEL @ 3pm
A panel of local animation companies and practitioners on the challenges of growing the local animation industry and what lies ahead.
ERVIN HAN, ROBOT PLAYGROUND
Ervin Han is the co-founder and managing director of Robot Playground Media, an animation studio based in Singapore. He has over 15 years’ experience in the media and animation industry, and has produced a range of content for broadcasters and corporate clients, including TV shows, web series, short films, commercials and educational apps. He is the creator of Heartland Hubby, Singapore’s first prime time animated sitcom, and most recently directed the award-winning SG50 short film, The Violin.
ANG QING SHENG, INDEPENDENT ANIMATOR
Qing Sheng is currently an independent animation filmmaker in Singapore and teaches in the Animation programme at LASALLE College of the Arts. He has received support from both LASALLE Research Project Funding and National Arts Council to produce animated short films which were screened in numerous local and international festivals.
HARRY & HENRY ZHUANG, WEAVING CLOUDS
Both Harry and his twins brother, Henry Zhuang, co-founded their own company Weaving Clouds, a small studio dedicated to producing animation that explore creative storytelling. They have both worked closely together on both 2D and stop-motion animation short films, always searching ways to tailor make animation to suit the story. Both brothers are also Media Education Scholarship (MES) recipient.
JUSTIN DEIMEN, AURORA MEDIA HOLDINGS
Justin is the co-founder of the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), a non-profit network seeking to unify media producers, creative entrepreneurs, and investors around ASEAN, and is also a member of the EAVE network of European producers. Most recently, Justin co-founded the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum, the region’s biggest media financing platform that engages and educates stakeholders from both the creative and financial sectors in developing modern modes of entertainment financing. He is currently the principal and managing partner of the USD30M Aurora Media Capital fund, investing in entertainment properties and media assets worldwide including animation and licensing of characters. He has produced and optioned multiple animated series such as "The Mushies," "Eco-Warriors 2095," and "Abbie Rose & The Magic Suitcase".
MODERATED BY MICHAEL LIM, SINGAPORE FILM SOCIETY
Michael is the festival director of Animation Nation 2016 and a committee member of the Singapore Film Society. He currently sits on the board of the Singapore International Film Festival and has been involved with Broadcast Asia, Screen Singapore and Broadcast Indonesia. He is the founder of the Singapore Visual Effects and Animation group with over 2,400 members. Michael’s background includes started working on indie short films, film curation and preservation and also working on Hollywood features including a Harry Potter film and directing Jackie Chan for UNICEF.
